The Baxter AS50 is a versatile syringe pump that can be used for a variety of applications, including intravenous, intra-arterial, epidural, and subcutaneous infusion. This pump is designed to deliver secondary solutions accurately, quickly, and cost-effectively, even when used in tandem with an ongoing infusion line. It is also equipped with advanced safety features to ensure the safety of the patient.

The versatile pump is indicated for infusion via intravenous (IV), intra-arterial (IA), epidural, or subcutaneous routes of administration. It can be conveniently piggybacked into an ongoing infusion line to deliver secondary solutions automatically, precisely, and economically. Moreover, the infusion rates are programmable from 0.01 to 438 mL/hr, allowing for precise and accurate delivery of the solution.

The pump accepts standard disposable syringes from 1 mL to 60 mL in size, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. A numeric keypad simplifies programming and makes the pump easy to use, while the status display prompts the user to enter data about the syringe and the infusion during programming. During operation, the status display shows information about the infusion, and safety and effectiveness are reinforced by pre-programmable bolus operation, titration of a dose without interruption of fluid flow, and easily understood alarm and alert messages. Additionally, the pump is equipped with a range of safety features, such as an automatic shut-off in the event of a power failure, to ensure reliable and safe operation.
