The Masimo Rad-57 is a handheld oximeter that provides the same reliable and accurate readings as Masimo SET, which is scientifically proven to be accurate even during motion and low perfusion. This lightweight, portable pulse oximeter offers many features, such as over 30 hours of battery life and up to 72 hours of trending memory. It also features a Signal I.Q. bar that helps identify and indicate signal quality during motion and low signal-to-noise situations, as well as FastSat, which tracks rapid changes in arterial oxygen with unparalleled accuracy.

The Masimo Rad-57 device is a revolutionary medical device that uses multiwavelength spectrophotometry to measure noninvasive COHb (SpCO) levels in the blood. Since its introduction in 2005, the Rad-57 has been used in hospitals and other medical settings around the world to help clinicians accurately assess and diagnose carbon monoxide poisoning. This device has been instrumental in saving countless lives and improving patient outcomes.

Features Measurement of:

  • SpO2 - Oxygen Saturation
  • PR - Pulse Rate
  • PI - Perfusion Index
  • PVi - Pleth Variability Index (optional)
  • SpHb - Total Hemoglobin (optional)
  • SpMet - Methemoglobin (optional)
  • SpCO - Carbonxyhemoglobin (optional)
  • SpOC - Oxygen Content (optional)

Conventional pulse oximetry uses the standard red over infrared algorithm to provide SpO2, while Masimo SET® uses that conventional algorithm but has added four other algorithms that all run in parallel. The other algorithms are:

 1) The SpHb® algorithm, which provides a real-time, non-invasive measure of hemoglobin (Hb)

2) The Pulse CO-Oximetry™ (Pulse CO-Ox) algorithm, which provides a measure of the arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2)

3) The Pleth Variability Index (PVI®), which is a measure of the variability of the pulse waveform

4) The Perfusion Index (PI), which is a measure of the perfusion of the tissue

The addition of these other algorithms provides a more complete picture of the patient's oxygenation status and allows for more accurate and timely interventions.

Masimo EMS patient cables are designed to withstand the rugged use cases commonly found in Emergency Medical Service (EMS) settings. The cables feature increased cable diameter (5.9 mm) compared to standard rainbow® cables (4.2 mm), stronger resistance to common cleaning agents as a result of new jacket material, enhanced tensile strength through the use of integrated Kevlar, and greater resistance to kinking breakages. The cables come with an extended warranty of 2 years.
